Most people know the famed Atlanta rapper Offset for one of two reasons. He was one-third of the popular rap group Migos before pursuing a solo career and is husband to Cardi B whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Cephus (2024 net worth is $80 million) who honestly needs no introduction — Grammy award-nominated American rapper, social media personality and former reality star . But the southern music artist has been in the entertainment industry for years — including as a backup dancer to Whitney Houston at one point. As part of Migos, Offset and his group members, Quavo and the late Takeoff, helped to bring Trap music further into the mainstream with iconic hits like “Bad and Boujee” and “Walk It Talk It.” He would go on as a solo artist to further establish himself as a fixture in the rap genre, earning a Best Rap Performance Grammy nomination for his song “Clout” which features his wife. With all the success and notoriety afforded Offset, exactly how much is the former Migos...
Offset has allegedly filed a lawsuit to officially part ways with Quality Control (QC) following differences over his solo career, TMZ reports. Although Offset — born Kiari Kendrell Cephus — and his fellow group members Quavo and Takeoff have managed to dodge rumors regarding the official disbanding of the beloved Migos rap group, he is getting vocal about his rights as an individual artist. However, now he wants to part ways with the label that has been home to the Atlanta natives since the very beginning.
If you’re a sneakerhead, you might want to listen up for this one. According to a press release, one of the oldest and most successful e-commerce websites known on the Internet has just launched a flagship store in Los Angeles that rewards avid sneaker wearers for sporting their kicks. As one of the places to go when on the hunt for both new and pre-owned sneakers, eBay now wants to reward people who not only purchase shoes from their new store but for leaving out with them on their feet. For the forthcoming holiday, the Wear ‘Em Out store will become home to some of the most exclusive, top-notch sneakers available to sneaker lovers outside of eBay’s normal online platform. “Most people can identify with that feeling of getting a new pair of shoes that you love so much, you just HAVE to wear them out of the store,” said Garry Thaniel, GM of Sneakers at eBay. “The Wear ‘Em Out Store celebrates a love of sneakers while acknowledging that sneakerheads are often balancing what they wear...
Offset owes a car rental company money — and a lot of it. Uproxx reports that the Migos rapper was recently ordered to pay more than $950,000 for a Bentley that he allegedly rented from a luxury auto rental company in Los Angeles — which was subsequently stolen. For what it’s worth, the value of the Bentley in question is roughly $177,000 — and it’s the demand for more than five times the value of the car that has Offset up in arms. What’s more, the outlet reports that he didn’t even know about the judgment until the entertainment lawyers for his wife — Cardi B — went down to the Superior Court in Los Angeles and obtained the paperwork. He further claims that the reason he didn’t get the paperwork had nothing to do with his desire to “ignore” the lawsuit, and everything to do with the fact that the attorneys for the auto rental company mailed the paperwork to his father’s address — where he hadn’t lived for quite some time. And if all that wasn’t enough, Offset further claims that...
Trick Daddy is in a world of hot water — and this time, it’s with the courts. The rapper and former radio show host — who hit a world of a mess when he got stung by the BeyHive after snarking that its Queen, Beyoncé, couldn’t sing — is in default on his Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing. Court documents obtained by Radar Online reveal that Trick Daddy owes nearly $23,000 to bring his Chapter 13 bankruptcy filing current. He has 45 days to cure the debt, or he will be deemed in default. If he fails to come up with the nearly $23,000 owed to the courts, his bankruptcy will be discharged, and collection efforts can begin anew on his assets. And that’s not all he owes. According to the outlet, he’s delinquent by $300,000 to the IRS. He also owes $60,000 in back child support. What’s more, the “Naan” rapper revealed to the courts that he has more than $800,000 in debts, but less than $400,000 in assets. He’s underwater on his South Florida home — though he owes $435,000 on the home, the...

Live events in the entertainment industry have been scarce for the last few months due to restrictions for in-person gatherings. However, artists and companies have been coming up with innovative ways to keep the industry afloat. This week, rapper Offset and event and entertainment facility Axis Replay announced the launch of a brand new production company called AXSD Media , which specializes in hosting both live and virtual events for artists to perform their music and still interact with fans, REVOLT TV reports . “With COVID-19 shutting down performances, it’s tough on artists mentally and financially; especially emerging artists,” Offset said in a statement . “AXSD Media offers a solution that lets artists do what they love in-person as safely as possible while still reaching fans virtually at the same time.” From an artist’s standpoint, Offset’s new venture will create a happy medium between artists and fans to allow for meaningful interactions and fulfilling performances. “We...
David Banner is thanking T.I. for making it possible for him to have a lucrative career as a producer . On the “Club Shay Shay,” podcast, Banner reveals how important a tag in a song is for producers to ensure they receive full recognition. He also claims he is one of the first rappers to put his name before a beat in contemporary Rap and says the decision was inspired by Jay-Z, who would shout out producers on his songs. “I noticed Jay-Z would say ‘Kanye, you a fool fool fool. Just Blaze, you did it again,’ and every time he would say their name they could charge $10,000 extra right,” Banner told host Shannon Sharpe on the podcast. “Southern rappers hid their producers. It hurts me to this day. KLC from Beats By The Pound, as big as ‘No Limit’ was, don’t nobody know who they are. They’re some of my mentors… I really think Beats By The Pound is as big as Timbaland and Pharrell, because they changed music in the same way that those people do but we don’t know who they are.” He...
A group of Black former M cDonald’s franchisees is joining the call for a boycott of the fast food chain, alleging systemic racial discrimination. Over 40 Black franchisees had filed a class action lawsuit across more than 12 states in January 2023, claiming unfair practices and unequal treatment, according to a press release. “When many of us entered the McDonald’s franchise program, we discovered the corporation would relegate us to only buying stores with lower profits and higher costs,” according to a statement representing the former McDonald’s franchisees. “When many of us tried to buy stores with greater profits, we were denied, and had to watch those more lucrative stores go to white owners. While we struggled to make our stores profitable, we were consistently faced with unreasonable demands that white owners did not face, and we were consistently denied support and financial relief that white owners were routinely offered.” The former store owners allege that issues, as...
Your life can change in the blink of an eye, and this has been the case for Monet McMichael. In 2022, McMichael was a graduate of Rutgers Nursing School. That same year was also when she started taking off on social media and scored her very first brand deal with Priyanka Chopra’s Anomaly Haircare, according to Teen Vogue and WWD. “There was definitely a fork in the road where I had to decide like which one I was gonna put like my all into,” she told Forbes in a 2023 interview. “I mean this being my career now is an absolute dream and I definitely am chasing it right now, but I’m so glad I graduated. I got my degree and I learned so much in nursing school that I feel like could never be taken away from me.” Content creation was nothing new for McMichael. Founder Melissa Butler says The Lip Bar was impacted by the Target boycott. How Target’s DEI Stance Impacted Its Q1 Earnings As AFROTECH™ previously reported, Target made the decision to scale back its three-year diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, which included dismantling a program that worked to feature Black-owned businesses in its stores. The company also stopped sending reports to an external diversity-focused organization. This prompted a 40-day consumer boycott led by Rev. Jamal Bryant, which attracted participation from nearly 200,000 consumers, per Atlanta News First. Target experienced a decline in foot traffic for 11 consecutive weeks, and its first-quarter earnings were $23.8 billion, which was 2.8% lower than the same period the previous year, according to a press release. To no surprise, business owners shelved at the store have felt the brunt of the boycott. This includes Butler who shared that sales had plummeted between 30% and 40%. “When people ask me...
